Where are the pistons on a car located?

04-30,2025

The pistons are located inside the engine cylinders. They typically move up and down between the top and bottom of the cylinders. Each cylinder has a piston, and the pistons of different cylinders are connected to the crankshaft through connecting rods.

Specific positions of a piston:

Inside a cylinder: The piston slides up and down inside the cylinder.

Top position: Known as the “top dead point”, it is the highest point of compression and combustion stroke.

Bottom position: Known as the “bottom dead point”, it is the lowest point of inhalation and exhaust stroke.

Common faults of an automotive piston:

Sealing failure: Wear or breaking of the piston ring leads to reduced power and oil burning.

Deformation due to overheating: Insufficient lubrication or poor cooling can result in cylinder scoring and jamming.

Knock: The top of the piston is eroded or cracked, leading to air leakage in the combustion chamber and an decrease in power. In this case, it is necessary to adjust the ignition timing or fuel grade.

vika pistons

Advantages of vika pistons:

1.Raw material: vika pistons are made of 109# aluminum alloy containing nickel, which greatly improves the hardness and stiffness of the products and extends their service life.

2.Piston: The side faces of vika pistons are made of graphite material imported from Germany, and are made in a screen printing process, which makes them more wear-resistant.

3.Production line: vika pistons are produced in the same production lines as globally renowned brands.
