What is automotive shock absorber and what are its functions?


Automotive shock absorber is a device used to reduce shock and vibration during movement of a vehicle. It cushions vibration and improves ride comfort and driving stability by consuming and absorbing energy from the vehicle suspension system.

Main functions of an automotive shock absorber:

1. Reduced vibration: The shock absorber can reduce vibration caused by uneven roads and vehicle speed changes during drives, and therefore create smoother ride experience for passengers.

2. Improved performance of the suspension system: The shock absorber can reduce vibration of the suspension system and wear of suspension components, thus prolonging the service life of the suspension system.

3. Better maneuverability: By reducing the vehicle's roll and forward/backward sway, the shock absorber can improve the vehicle's maneuverability, leading to more stable and flexible driving.

4. Higher safety: The shock absorber can improve the vehicle's grip force and stability, reduce shaking in the course of braking for better braking performance, and consequently contribute to higher driving safety.
