What are common failures of steering pump?

03-11,2024

The common failures of steering pump:

Heavy steering: A steering pump failure may cause the steering wheel to become heavy, and the driver needs to apply greater force to turn the steering wheel.

Unstable steering: If the steering pump fails, it may result in unstable steering, and the steering wheel may suddenly become uneven, causing a sense of discontinuity during steering.

Steering noise: If the steering pump fails, abnormal noises such as rumbling, whimpering, or other sounds may be heard. This may result from wear of internal components of the pump or insufficient hydraulic oil.

Oil leakage: If the steering pump fails, hydraulic oil leakage may occur in the seals, connecting pipelines, or other parts of the pump.

Analysis of causes of steering pump failure:

Wear of internal components of the pump: Long use or incorrect hydraulic oil maintenance may lead to wear of internal components of the pump, such as pump blades and seals.

Hydraulic oil leakage: Aging or damage of the seals around the pump or loose connection of pipelines may cause hydraulic oil leakage, reducing the operation efficiency of the hydraulic system.

Hydraulic oil contamination: If the hydraulic oil is polluted by impurities or water, it may damage internal components of the steering pump and interfere with its normal operation.

Loose or broken belt: The steering pump is usually driven by the engine. If the belt loosens or breaks, it will be unable to provide power to the steering pump normally and consequently lead to failure of the steering pump.

Please note that the above are just some common symptoms and causes of steering pump failures. The specific symptoms may vary depending on the vehicle model and causes. If you find a failure of your steering pump, consulting a professional automotive repair technician for diagnosis and repair is recommended.

vika steering pump

Advantages of vika steering pump:

1. Pump body: The body of vika steel pump is die cast with smooth and flat surface.

2. Pump cover: The bolt installation holes for the pump cover are well machined (milled). The hexagonal flange bolts are easier to be installed flat and less likely to get loose after installation.

3. Oil distributor: The oil distributor for vika steel pump is based on a secondary steam treatment process, which results in high wear resistance and clean appearance.

4. Sealing ring: The O-ring is made of fluororubber, which leads to high tensile strength, excellent temperature resistance, high hardness, and a long service life.

5. Bearing: The roller bearing for vika steel pump is of NSK brand. Produced at a high cost, it features low noise and a long service life.

6. Oil inlet connector: The oil inlet connector features good surface roughness, smooth oil feeding, and stable pressure.
