What are the symptoms of a failed gasoline pump?
08-02,2023
A gasoline pump plays a critical role in the engine fuel system. Its main purpose is pumping gasoline from the fuel tank into the engine combustion chamber for combustion and power output. A gasoline pump failure may cause malfunction or difficult startup of the engine.
Symptoms of a failed gasoline pump:
1. Difficult startup of the engine: When the gasoline pump fails to provide sufficient fuel pressure, the engine may be difficult to start or fail to start.
2. Loss of power of the engine: If the gasoline pump fails to provide sufficient fuel flow, the engine may lose power, preventing normal acceleration or maintenance of a constant speed.

3. Engine stalling or shutdown: When the gasoline pump malfunctions, the engine may suddenly stall or shut down, and cannot run anymore.
4. Engine jitter or instability: If the gasoline pump cannot provide stable fuel pressure, the engine may jitter, run unstably, or produce abnormal noise.
5. Fuel leakage: Sometimes the sealing or connecting part of the gasoline pump may break or be damaged, leading to fuel leakage. This may generate fuel smell in the car or lead to fuel dripping when the car is parked.
