The air suspension compressor compresses air through the reciprocating motion of a piston driven by an electric motor. The air is filtered and dried to become high-pressure air, which is then delivered to the four air springs via a distribution valve, thereby raising the vehicle body. Conversely, pressure is released through a solenoid valve to lower the vehicle body.

Piston ring wear and cylinder scoring: This is often caused by pump overload resulting from air spring leakage, or from water ingress and corrosion due to dryer failure. Symptoms include insufficient pressure (<6 bar) and severe metallic friction noise.

Motor burnout: The relay contacts are eroded or the heat dissipation fails, causing the coil to overheat and burn out. The symptoms include complete shutdown of the compressor and a blown fuse.

Dryer failure: The internal desiccant (molecular sieve) becomes saturated after 5–8 years of use, and can no longer effectively remove moisture. This leads to ice and pipe blockage during winter, which accelerates pump wear.
