What is air filter element?

01-05,2026

The air filter element on a car is a core component of the engine intake system. It filters out dust, sand, and impurities from the air entering the engine cylinders, thus preventing wear on precision parts such as cylinders, pistons, and piston rings. Besides, it ensures sufficient air intake for the engine and maintains high power output and fuel efficiency.

Main consequences of a dirty air filter element:

Reduced airflow from the air conditioner and poor cooling/heating effect;

Unpleasant odors (musty or earthy odors) inside the car;

Harm to the health of occupants, especially those with allergies.

Replacement cycle of air filter elements:

The air filter element on a car is typically replaced once every 10,000 kilometers or every year (preferably during spring). If the environment is harsh or the external circulation system is frequently used, it should be replaced prematurely, as performance degradation may compromise driving safety.

vika air filter elements

Advantages of vika air filter elements:

1. Air outlet surfaces: On the seal ring and in the installation point, polyurethane foam sealing agent (double-ingredient polyurethane PU glue) is applied to bond filter paper for sealing.

2. Filter paper: mainly for intercepting and filtering impurities.

3. Air inlet surfaces: The binder (PO) ensures airtightness between filter paper pieces.

PU glue provides good sealing when a vika filter element is loaded into an enclosure. The required Shore hardness for the PU glue is 25±3. In contrast, in products of other brands, air leakage may occur due to inadequate foaming.

Filter paper bonding: After the paper is folded, the hot melt glue should be applied evenly on both sides. Bonding should be completed in the time period corresponding to optimum status of the glue (3S).
