How long is the service life of oil coolers?
08-25,2025
The service life of an oil cooler is dependent on different factors, and is usually not fixed. Damage to an oil cooler can result in serious consequences.
Factors influencing the service life of an oil cooler:
Product quality: including the quality of heat exchange materials, sealing components, and welding/connecting parts used.
Driving environment: High temperature, high load, prolonged operation in idle state, and frequent short-distance drives can increase the risk of wear and corrosion.
Maintenance results: Regularly cleaning cooler surface helps prevent dirt and impurities from blocking the heat dissipation channels. Using proper coolant and oil and replacing them regularly can prevent deterioration and formation of sediments.
Quality of oil and coolant: Contamination and mixing of oil and coolant can accelerate aging of components.
Installation and operation method: If the oil cooler is not installed properly, or if it is subject to frequent vibration or shock, its service life can be shortened.
Failure diagnosis methods:
Leakage: Is there any leakage of oil or coolant in the connecting pipelines, sealing rings, or welding parts?
Abnormal temperature control: The oil temperature is abnormally high for long, which may be related to a decrease in the cooler performance.
Abnormal mixing of oil and coolant: If coolant appears in oil or if oil appears in coolant, it usually means that the heat exchanger is damaged and should be replaced.
Physical damage: including shell rupture, corrosion, and obvious deformation.

vika STO oil cooler assembly:
Seat: ADC12 aluminum alloy is used, which features high strength, high fastening force, and high resistance to deformation and rupture even at high temperatures.
Sealing gasket: It is made of HNBR (hydrogenated nitrile), which features high corrosion resistance and excellent temperature resistance in the range from -40℃ to 180℃.
Product surface: The surface of vika STO oil cooler assembly receives spray painting treatment to prevent aluminum oxidation and extend its service life.
