Common symptoms of cracking of an engine mounting rubber gasket

12-30,2024

Engine mounting is a key structure that connects the engine and the chassis on a car. It is typically composed of several components, and serves the main purposes of supporting the engine, cushioning and isolating vibration, and ensuring stable positioning of the engine. Cracking of the engine mounting rubber gasket is a common failure that may affect the performance, riding comfort, and driving safety of the car.

Common symptoms of cracking of an engine mounting rubber gasket:

1. Increased vibration: Cracking of the engine mounting rubber gasket will prevent effective absorption of engine vibration and result in remarkable vibration of the car body during drives.

2. Louder noise: Cracking of the engine mounting rubber gasket may impair the sound insulation effect between the engine and the car body. Consequently, more noise and vibration will be transmitted to the driver’s cab, increasing the noise level during drives.

3. Unstable engine position: Cracking of the engine mounting rubber gasket may lead to improper position of the engine. In particular, during acceleration or deceleration, the engine may shake or deviate from its normal position.

4. Visible cracks: During inspection of the engine compartment, obvious cracks or aging marks may be found on the surface of the rubber gasket.

Causes of cracking of an engine mounting rubber gasket:

1. Aging and fatigue: Rubber material ages naturally over time, leading to lower elasticity and cracking. Exposure to harsh environment conditions such as high temperature, high humidity, and ozone for long can also speed up aging.

2. Temperature changes: The engine operates at high temperatures. Rapid temperature changes can cause damage to the rubber and lead to cracking.

3. Excessive vibration: Excessive vibration of the engine during operation may increase the stress on the gasket and consequently cause cracking.

4. Improper installation: If the rubber gasket is installed improperly, e.g., when excessive force is applied or it is not tightened as required, stress may concentrate at the joint and increase the possibility of cracking.

5. Chemical corrosion: The rubber gasket may be exposed to oil, fuel, or other chemicals, causing chemical corrosion and speeding up cracking.

vika BMW engine mounting

Advantages of vika BMW engine mounting:

1. The vika BMW engine mounting uses the original OE rubber formula, leading to stable performance and excellent fatigue resistance.

2. The static and dynamic rigidity of vika BMW engine mounting is equal to or better than 98% OE components.

3. The vika BMW engine mounting is produced with an fully automatic vacuum filling machine, and ethylene glycol liquid is used in the formula to achieve higher viscosity and a lower freezing point of -50℃.
