What are the methods for detecting failure of an automotive electronic fan?

1. The fan doesn’t work
As control of the fan is based on requirements for engine temperature and the air conditioning system, after replacing the fan, start the engine and turn on the air conditioning switch, and run the system for about 5 minutes. If the fan still does not work, the following measures can be taken:
①Check if all circuits (ACC, GND, PWM, KL87) have been well connected, and if all connectors are firmly connected with full contact (check positive and negative poles, check the PWM signal duty cycle for a three-wire brushless or controller fan, and check the PWM signal duty cycle and on/off status of KL87 for a four-wire brushless or controller fan);
②Rotate the fan blades with hand after power outage to check if they are stuck;
③Check if the radiator temperature sensor has failed;
④Verify if the fan model matches the vehicle model.
2. The fan rotates at high speed constantly
Operation of the fan is instructed by the engine control unit. When the fan runs at high speed constantly, please check the following items:
①Check the duty cycle of the PWM signal to verify if the working status of the fan is in line with system requirements (for a four-wire brushless or controller fan, when the PWM signal line is disconnected, the fan will run at high speed in an emergency mode);
②Check relevant components including temperature sensor, throttle valve, and water pump;
③Verify if the fan model matches the vehicle model.
3. The fan still runs after shutdown and power-off
In order to protect the engine, some models provide a delayed shutdown function. In these models, after the engine is shut down and powered off, the fan will continue to run for a few minutes, which is normal. If it fails to stop after this delay, it is in an abnormal state.
4. Abnormal sound of the fan
If there is any noise other than sound caused by the high-speed operation of the fan, check if there is any interfering foreign object and if the fan collides with its bracket based on the source of the noise.
5. Shaking of the fan
Check if the fixing screws are loose, if the balance clamp of the blades is loose, and if any fan blade is severely deformed.
6. The fan fails to run in high speed or low speed range
Some models provide both high and low speed fan ranges. If the fan is only able to operate in one range, check if the temperature control switch of the radiator has malfunctioned.
7. Persistent fault code
If after replacement of a fan and clearing of fault code, the fault code persists, check if the fan model matches the vehicle model and if there is any functionals restriction.
Advantages of vika electronic fan:
1. Upgraded noise reduction function
The vika electronic fan is designed to achieve bi-directional balance between temperature and wind resistance indicators, ensuring precise interactive temperature control, and leading to over 20% decrease in wind noise compared to other brands in the market.
2. Upgraded anti-shaking function
The motor, fan, and motor assembly are designed with anti-shaking function, which ensures precise balance of the components during rotation.
3. Upgraded process
The rotor blades of vika electronic fan are made in a fully automatic high-speed punching process, which leads to good forming effect in a single mechanical step and ensures stable product performance.
4. Upgraded material
The vika fan motor uses OE electronic control module technology to ensure smooth startup and precise rotation of the motor under various working conditions, thus reducing engine power loss.
