Possible reasons for water boiling in an auxiliary radiator

Possible reasons for water boiling in an auxiliary radiator:

1. Malfunction of a cooling fan or a broken fan belt impairs the heat dissipation function, causing the water in the radiator to become hotter and reach boiling point.

2. Leakage of the radiator results in less efficient cooling. As a consequence, the water in the radiator becomes hotter and reach boiling point.

3. Insufficient coolant in the radiator results in less efficient cooling. As a consequence, the water in the radiator becomes hotter and reach boiling point.

Purpose of an automotive auxiliary radiator

The auxiliary radiator is a supporting part for the water radiator, and serves as a key component in the heat dissipation and cooling system. It is often called “expansion tank” due to its working mechanism. Certain pressure is generated in the water radiator at high or low temperatures, and the auxiliary radiator can play a pressure regulation role.

Expanding with heat and contracting with cold, the auxiliary radiator helps drain surplus water from the water radiator and the engine. It is therefore a critical part. The water radiator and the auxiliary radiator are identical inside. Hence, attention should be paid to the level of coolant during replenishment to avoid excessive coolant.
