An original 8K0959455G electronic fan packed in a box can be used for about 5 years on a car. This service life may be shortened due to heavy wear at high RPMs.
The battery of the fan can sustain operation of the fan for 45 minutes before recharging if it is relatively new, or 20 to 30 minutes if it has aged. Operation with engine off is not recommended, as this may reduce the service life of the battery.
There are mainly two types of automotive fans:
Axial fan:
In an axial fan, the impeller pushes air to flow in the axial direction. The impeller of an axial fan is similar to a propeller, keeping most air in the axial direction during work.
Centrifugal fan:
When a centrifugal fan works, its impeller pushes air to flow in the direction perpendicular to the axis (radial direction). While air inflow moves axially, air outflow is normal to the axis. In most cases, an axial fan is enough to achieve desired cooling effect. However, if there is a need to rotate the air by 90 degrees before discharge or to generate a high air pressure, a centrifugal fan must be selected.
